I've Hit a Plateau...anyone else had this?
Hi all. I'm 40, F and I've been on my weight loss journey for about 6 months. I started at 180lbs, and am down to 140lbs now (I know this works out at like 2lbs a week, but it hasn't been that steady - some weeks I lose nothing, others I've lost 4lbs so really kind of all over the place).
For the last month though, I've lost nothing. I really do mean not a single pound. I know everyone says that they don't cheat on their diet, but I really am being totally good...I follow my meal plans religiously, in fact I make up all of my food for the week on a Sunday and then freeze it. I don't have junk or "bad" food in the house, just because I know that if it's there I'll eat it.
Has anyone else had this happen? I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Hey!
I'd need to know more about what you're doing to lose weight to help? Just dieting? Are you working out/running etc etc?
Hi, and thank you for replying.
I'm doing a bunch of other stuff, but mostly low impact because I jarred my knee pretty badly last year and I really want to avoid hurting it again.
I'm swimming every day for about 30 minutes, and trying to do yoga a couple of times a week.
OK, well actually that's a great start - low impact or not!
Do you know what your calorie intake is right now?
Around 2000 calories a day.
OK, well right away I would consider dropping that to 1800 and see what happens.
I had thought about doing that, but I'm really worried that I'm going to feel hungry all the time if I drop that low. I'm already starving by the time I get home, and it really concerns me that I'm going to end up bingeing.
Make sure that you eat stacks of whole grain and lots of veggies (fun fact - broccoli can actually burn more calories during the digestion process than it contains!). Also, water is your friend. Is so important, if you feel hungry, to have a glass of water before eating...quite often our bodies confuse hunger for thirst.
