Hi!
So I recently started to strengthen my hamstrings as I was always quad dominant and never realized the importance of hamstring in so many different exercises. So, what are your favorite exercises? I personally love Good Morning and Lying Leg Curl.
Nice thread! I was always pretty much quad dominant as well. I think it's because people really do neglect their hamstrings overall.
Mostly I see that people do half-squats instead of full ATG squats, which is probably another reason, why their quads are stronger than their hamstrings on average.
I was doing half squats as well, until I have been corrected by some huge guy at my gym, who told me that full squats are better and safer.
I couldn't disagree, especially after I have confirmed it on this forum
So, apart from ATG - Ass To Grass Squats I love doing Single Leg SLDL and Seated Leg Curls
I'm not really many hamstring exercises to be honest. I rather stick to squats and RDL - Romanian Deadlift.
Sometimes I add Good Morning or so, but that's pretty rare. I have noticed, that when it goes to females, which are mostly genetic quad dominant, volume is much more important than the exercise itself or weight that you use.
So, I stick to squats and RDL only now, doing more reps and more sets.
I agree, RDL is basically all I need for my hamstrings now as an supportive exercise with squats and deadlifts.
I like Good Morning and Single Leg SLDL as well, but just as annbee I rarely do them anymore.
I'm pretty new to working out, but I love straight legged deadlifts. Amazing exercise
I had some trouble with feeling the hamstrings at the beginning, but once you get a grasp of how it works, it's great!
Yeah, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned stiff-leg deadlift. It's very similar to Romanian Deadlift with only difference being, that you actually have straight legs in stiff-leg one for whole movement, while RDL is much more resembling original deadlift in this manner.
I actually prefer stiff-leg one over RDL, it literally makes my hamstrings explode, especially as annbee already said, that women are more quad dominant, so we need to provide more volume for hamstrings to grow at the same rate as quads (by around 20-30%).
