I have received several responses from the time I lost 22 pounds, and many women want to know how I managed to do this. I can assure that weight loss is achievable. Firstly, it is important to have people around you to cheer you on and give you a good feeling about weight loss.

As for me, the people in my life respect me and the fact that I am losing weight. I do not go for food items like desserts, snacks, and fast food. All my friends and family know me very well and don't risk offering me these items as they know they will get a scornful glance from me in return.

Although I am still shedding off weight, it is very essential to brand yourself in the presence of like-minded individuals. I am not ready to disrupt or interrupt my weight loss goals.

The trick to setting a good example of a woman who is hell-bent on losing weight is to consider anyone who doesn't support her cause as her enemy. To succeed in this, you must have supportive friends around you. I still have about 30 pounds to release, and I am sure it will happen in due course of time.

The best advice that I can offer to you for losing weight is, start now. Talk to a doctor, or your nutritionist, then come up with a workout plan as well as a meal plan that works for you.

Have a meal diary and consistent journal to help track of how you progress. Don't give up or get discouraged of any setback. Vary the workouts and keep on working on them until you reach your goal. It will take time but it will happen, trust me.

I would request the readers to post their success stories as well, to give some positivity into this forum. Any story will do, but it has to have a happy ending :)

That's great MomPauline. Here is my success story.

As I started to shed weight (I was on a rigid diet), I was the first to notice the changes, but my friends didn't. This got my spirits down I must admit. However, when I resumed work at my original workplace after a gap of one year due to personal reasons and as I stood outside the office, a colleague noticed and complimented me on how gorgeous I was looking. I then strolled down the hallway intentionally to know what they thought of me. You can't believe the applause I got from my stunned colleagues.

They were seeing me after a long time, so they could tell the difference and not my friends. It's amazing how I feel about myself now.

My younger daughter came to tell me that she wanted to lose some weight for her prom. She always thought she looked ugly in her "big-body". I know I didn't discipline her from the time she was young, and also the fact that her weight issues were majorly because of my negligence.

I had intended to ask her to wait until she was a little older before going to a weight loss program, however feeling guilty, I enrolled her at a gym in our neighborhood. Six months have passed and now, I cannot believe it's her. She has changed a lot. Now she looks skinny and even more beautiful. I am thinking about asking her to take me through what she did to achieve such a beautiful body.

That's nice OlivBaby. Encouraging your daughter to stay fit. I can see that you too are motivated to lose weight. However, take quick action and get the ball rolling. Enrol yourself in the gym tomorrow itself. You even have your daughter as company to train with you and guide you as well.

Happy Training

Important things first, what I always tell my friends about how I managed to lose weight and look how I am today is that I never got tired or gave up. There were days when I ate unhealthy food, but I am human and I understood that these urges tend to creep up in all human beings.

I always picked up from where I left and kept going. I could sense at times that I wasn't making any progress but still kept going. I kept reminding myself of the goals I had set and what I needed to achieve until I lost 40 pounds which was my target.
