Hi all. Thought it would be good to start a thread so everyone can share their tips and tricks, what's worked for them and what hasn't.
I'll start with KNOCK OFF THE FIZZY, SUGARY DRINKS! I know that helped me lots, and it's something that I've heard from lots of other people too.
Dark chocolate if you really must have something sweet (NEVER milk - it's a killer) and exercise. Move more, eat less.
High fibre, high protein diet for me.
Water, water and more water. I know now that 9 times out of 10, if I think I'm hungry I'm actually thirsty. Also, my skin has never looked better. :)
Haha, cheerleaders always welcome!
Never more than 1500 calories and LOTS of fruit and veggies.
HIT (High intensity training) and just cutting out rubbish. Also, no picking at the kids food!
Cut down on sugar. I don't add it to anything anymore, and avoid anything that is naturally high in sugar. I've lost nearly a stone in weight with no other changes, which is shocking really.
Learn to cook. Seriously, processed food like ready meals are loaded with calories and sugar and have really poor nutritional content.
Haha, easier said than done for some of us, TG! My hubby would love it if I could learn to cook properly!
Honestly, Jen - just grab a few 'cooking for beginners' cook books and go for it. As an added bonus, my grocery bills have gone right down because I'm not paying for convienience food anymore. It's great.
That's very true, TG. I think a lot of the so called obesity crisis is down to the fact that people don't cook properly any more. Too many take outs and TV dinners!
Really just eat less and move more. There's no magic bullet...I know things get harder as you get older, but it's really that simple.
I agree with fit and forty. Processed, prepackaged foods are not good in almost all cases. Cut out the sugar and artificial sweeteners. Stevia is ok though as it is derived naturally. Whole fresh foods is the answer. I eat what I want and don't ever feel hungry. Meat, chicken, fish, eggs, lots of fresh veggies or frozen is ok. And fresh fruit. If I'm having a craving for sweets, I just eat fruit. Cut sugar and gluten (which is mostly just the bad carbs) and you quit craving junk.
